Oh my god. I’ve been thinking that the eyes of truth were an actual divine trait, but what if they were all reincarnators???
(I’m sure they were actually able to see the future, but how wild would it be if the people who had that trait were reincarnators. Just this one family is made up of them lol)
Dang, I was hoping for more theories (in comments) about that dinner moment, it was really ominous.
Looks like the brother also inherited the Magic Eyes, but it's compulsion magic? Strange that he doesn't know he has it. Is that the real reason his father sounded nervous over the magic telephone? And did it really work on Ainne or is she just easygoing enough she agreed? So many questions!
About what happened to Nadin during dinner, I was reminded of what Nadin and Ainne's father, Nathaniel, mentioned in the early chapters (chapter 2) about the "Law of Verrum".
Maybe it has something to do with their ancestors and the monsters outside the border. They probably have some sort of family curse that lets them stay in the Verrum Duchy in order to protect the empire from the monsters? Especially Ainne who has special powers.
Maybe the members of the Verrum family are descendants of the being that Ainne met in the hunting lodge over the border, who is probably the creator or god of their world? Idk HAHAHAHA i'm just speculating.
I also wanted to note Chapter 11 where Tego asked himself what was so special about the Verrum family" when he and Ainne went over the border. So maybe it's a foreshadowing that Verrum is indeed a special family?
